Marriage is a dance. A complicated one. I’m waltzing in a sparkly stiletto. He’s trying to tango in a boring black shoe. And in the end we decide it’s probably best if we just freestyle across the floor. At the very least, our song is the same.
This is the typical tread for our marriage. We can definitely find ourselves on the same page but the efforts to get there are usually quite different…at an unmatched pace. Pairing up as Opposites Attract means living a life that can be as funny as it is frustrating. It can be equally brilliant and backbreaking. And it can be incredibly arduous but absolutely amazing. My husband and I just celebrated six years of marriage {on the 6th}. It doesn’t seem like much but considering the odds we defeated to get us here, it’s kind of a golden gate. And as a result, I have perspective that I wouldn’t have without him. I also have pet peeves that I wouldn’t have without him. You take the good, you take the bad.
SIX GOLDEN SENTIMENTS
I wouldn’t laugh near as much if I married someone just like me. Quick wit and inappropriate humor in daily doses.
I would know nothing about collegiate and professional sports if I married someone just like me. Covering the important facets of life.
I might starve if I married someone just like me. Evening decisions are not my strong suit.
I would get suckered into a new car filter every time I got the oil changed if I married someone just like me. #justsayno
I wouldn’t get the additional opportunities to practice my patience if I married someone just like me. Talking to someone who only seems to listen half the time almost becomes a game. ALMOST.
I wouldn’t be able to come up with a laundry list of grievances if I married someone just like me. And this list breeds entertaining conversations with my girlfriends.
Most of all, I wouldn’t be as well-loved or appreciated if I married someone just like me.
